Cleaning Digital Palms (Warrior)

Recommended Posts

To start, I have never really cleaned palms before. I take a lot of precations already including:

-Using white Renfrew Stretch Grip tape.

-Retaping the grip after every (and I mean every) game.

-Not resting my grip end in any dirt/water.

-Remove from bag as soon as I get home.

-Dry on a ShockDoctor blower with the dual-port and no-heat.

In the past, I have never cleaned palms, but notice that my digital palms are starting to get a lot of discoloration after about 1.5-2.0 months of use (used on average of 2.5 times/week).

Can those with experience with this style of palm recommend a way of cleaning them without them getting super-crusty.

Products used and technique would be appreciated...

I have the warrior digital palms on my franchises too, and the only time they got crusty was when my dad left them in the sun. They will lose their texture in high-wear areas, but they will stay soft as long as you keep them in a shady, somewhat cool area.

If you are having issues with palms getting crusty, it's due to your sweat. If you use something that is designed to break down the salts or moisturize the material, the crustiness will go away. Not everyone will have this problem as the PH level of sweat will vary significantly from one person to the next. Discoloration is due to wear, I would suggest not doing anything as you're more likely to wear down the palm even more with your cleaning.

Why are worried about discoloration?

Are you having a performance problem with the palm?

I've not once had crusty digital palms, but, maybe the way you sweat is causing the palm to react in a strange way. Remember, digital palms are natural goat, so, I really wouldn't suggest any chemicals or a "water" cleaning...

The "dirty" area is losing it's tacky-ness, which is why I was considering cleaning them. It is also slightly crusty in that same area.

I do sweat a lot and the sweat pools in certain areas. I have had this "pooling" issue only with Warrior gloves. Maybe it's the design?

After my next game I will take a picture of the post game carnage.

Real digital palms, no matter the hockey glove manufacturer, only come from one source.

Being that digital is a natural hide, you always have inconsistencies from hide to hide, palm to palm.

Sorry, should have clarified - I think its the glove design that makes the pools. The palm itself is a little loose to my hand in some spots and the liner is actually doing its job! My hands are not wet when I am done playing.

Previous gloves (like PPF's, 4-Rolls, etc) would not have pools of sweat, but my hands came out of the glove with much more moisture on them.

I am a full on, 100% digital user, and I agree with pretty much all of everyone's posts in this thread. I haven't had any problems with digi ever going crusty, or having to clean them for any reason. As Sharks and others mention, the high traffic areas (in your palm) will sort of 'crush down' the digital texture, but it shouldn't be that extreme that it is hindering the performance of the palm.
