Flex on Bauer OPS vs. Shaft (2-piece)

Recommended Posts

Does the flex feel different between a retail Bauer OPS and the shaft version of the same model? Also, are the flex markings at the top of the stick the same in both, i.e., cutting 4" from either will result to a 92 flex?

Yes, for a couple reasons. With a blade in, the shaft/blade combo is actually longer.

So, in my case, a 102 bauer shaft gets cut down to about a 115 flex, but on a OPS it only gets cut down one segment vs. two, upping the flex to 108, which is perfect for me.

I don't know what the actual flex markings are with different flexes, i.e. 87 flex to 92 to 97?, but you'd be going one more notch up in stiffness with the two-piece.

Most OPS and shafts of the same name have very different construction methods. The flex will feel different before you start cutting in most cases.
