13" senior shinguards

Recommended Posts

Is there any manufacturer other than Bauer that makes senior 13" shins? I have a messed up knee and my current Vapor 40 shins are just not "cushiony" enough in the knee area. I've been looking at the Reebok 9 and 11k's because they look like they have a really nice cushiony knee donut. Problem is that in my experience 14" shins are slightly too long for me.

My questions are - Is there a huge difference in width between the Junior 13" and the Senior 14"? And how does the Bauer Pro Series shins compare to the Reeboks in terms of depth, comfort and protection in the knee area?

It's an option I'm considering, but I'd rather not make modifications if there is something out there that meets my needs. I'm leaning towards the Bauer Pro Series shin, anyone have experience with those?

i have the bauer pro series 14" and reebok 8k's(the '09 model) in 14". imo, the pro series are as protective if not more so than the 8k's and just as cushiony in the knee. the pro series aren't quite as wide as the 8k's, especially in the knee.

also, i've had the 13" and 14" pro series side by side since i wasn't sure which length i would need, and as far as i could tell, the only difference between 2 in fit was length, width and depth seemed to be identical. also, the pro series seem to come a bit shorter(1/2" or so) size for size compared to the 8k's i had.

Perfect! That sounds like just what I need. Went ahead and ordered it.

Thanks for your help. :)

I'm late to this but there is a difference in width. For me I'm 5'8 and wear 14" shins that always seemed a bit long, but 13" or 13.5" seemed too short. I couldn't find one I liked until I realized that most removable liner shin pads allow you to move the outer shell up or down a bit so as to not interfere with your skate while strapped in. Once I did that, the 14" Reeboks felt great.
