Vapor skates 1/2 size bigger

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I just started playing hockey in April, since I never played before, I had to buy all new gear, I decided on the x20s.

I recently found a pair of used pro stock x60s on craigslist for a really good price. Only problem is, it's size 8.5D. My x20s are size 8D. When I first started playing I use to get blisters on both my pinky toes when I use to tie them tight, now I just leave the laces at the toe super loose and that seemed to fix the blister problem.

My Question is would I be okay with getting a pair of skates that are half a size bigger than I am wearing now? Would it make a huge difference? Also a dumb question... But I really wonder.. Does buying a more expensive skate actually help you skate better?

Thanks

You should probably be looking at wider skates, not longer skates. Better skates can help, but that depends on your size and skating strength. Most recreational players don't need top of the line skates but will benefit from going to mid level (or above) skates.

I thought I was choosing too short a skate, until I went from 10D to 10EE, huge difference. And remember that Pro Stock Skates aren't based on the same mold as retail and may be even more narrow than what you already have.
