Two-Piece Composite Sticks

Recommended Posts

I am looking into buying a 2 piece stick and I was just wondering what some of the top ones are. I am currently using a broken Si-Core (just the shaft) with a wooden blade and the flex just doesn't feel right after I had to flip it around to put the new blade in. I like the feel of the Bauer XV but I have heard alot of good things about Innovative shafts. My LHS doesn't carry Innovative sticks so I have never really looked into getting one. Any suggestions would be great.

Thank Alot

First of all, iy you buy a tapered blade, you can put the blade in the proper end of your sicore. Second, I have an mission L2, which is a two piece stick and I think its great.

First decide if you want a tapered or Standard shaft. Looks at the blade availability and whether you'll be able to get your curve. I like the Xn10 line of sticks, and think the Bauer and Mission shafts aren't too shabby either. I just seem to like the handle of those over the Eastons, I'd buy more mission sticks if I could get grip models. The Xn10 line seems to have great kick (I've had the OPS and Red Lite Xn10) and it seems to be related to the shaft and not the blade which is a plus for you looking to grab a shaft. Also check the review section, should be some indepth analysis on the sticks, but everyone will have their personal prefrences.

Thanks alot, but I was more interested in some information on the Innovative shafts. Also I know that I want to get a tapered shaft, just from trying teamates sticks the tapered shafts just feel better to me. So if someone had some sort of list on what options I have in the tapered department, that would be great. My LHS isn't very good even though I live in the so called "state of hockey" all they carry stick wise is all the different Easton's and the Vectors.

or the Mission L-2 as crosskore mentioned. Those are the only tapered shafts I could think of from the top of my head though.

There are a few things you'll probably want to consider.

1. Price. What are you looking to spend?

2. Availability. If you have to order online then you need to factor shipping/taxes into the price.

3. Grip/flex/shape. XV only comes in grip, grip synthesis only comes in 100/110 flexes, TPS shafts only come in the concave shape, etc. It's good to get the shaft that you want but it will totally hinder your experience with it if it's the wrong flex or shaft shape (flex more so than shape).

If you're really that interested in the Inno shafts then give it a go. The 1100 and Novius are both great shafts. Inno is the most versatile manufacturer in terms of shaft shape/flex/grip so you can probably get exactly what you want (based on availability of the store of course).

Maybe you should try out the OPS counterparts of these shafts and make your decision based on that.

Bauer Vapor XV = Vapor XX

TPS R2 = Response?

Innovative Novius = Novius

Innovative 1100 = 1100

Easton Synthesis = Synergy

Easton Synthesis Grip = Synergy Grip

The R2 is the same as the Response+, the R2XN10 is like the Response xn10. The "regular" R2 is a bit heavier but has excellent balance.

3. Grip/flex/shape. XV only comes in grip, grip synthesis only comes in 100/110 flexes

Synthesis comes in intermidiate now and im pretty sure junior and 85, they added the flexes in 2004.

Is the R2 concave? I thought it was based on the original response shaft? I know that they switched over the blades on the R2, but thought they stayed with the original response shape.

The intermediate and junior flexes are of course available. I'm only referring to the senior shafts and not the whole product line. Grip synthesis do not come in the 85 flex.
