Shops in Calgary

Hey Guys,

Wanting to get some knowledge on some hockey shops in Calgary. I know about the big box shops (hockey experts and pro hockey life) but what about other shops?

I am looking to get some skates for my wife for xmas and her family is in Calgary which is where we will be. This will allow me to keep it a secret for the holidays.

All of the ones mentioned are very good but add Adrenaline Source for Sports in the south off Macleod Trail. They are very good as well and have better evening hours.

Thanks for the advice on the better evening hours that is always a concern, Most shops in Vancouver close at 6pm and it is impossible to get there before close on a weekday.

The type of skate you want to get for your wife, and how she'll use it (recreational, hockey, competitive, etc.) should play into where you go.

Professional Skate Service in Marda Loop or Midnapore would probably be your best bet for high-end skates if she's a competitive skater/player, especially if you need any customizations. They recently added better evening and weekend hours.

B&P Cycle and Sport will offer the same level of skates, but may offer a slightly better price point if you don't need a lot of customization or shop work. Their evening hours aren't that great when I last checked.

Adrenaline SFS and Tuxedo SFS are both good for anything from entry level to the upper-end skate. When I was in Adrenaline a few weeks ago, they had a ton of skates on sale/clearance if you're looking for a deal, more than a specific brand.

If you want to go to a small family-run type business where buying new or used is an option, try Sports Traders in Crowfoot.
