Bauer X7.0 skate vs. CCM U+ Crazy light

Recommended Posts

Hey guys... I am thinking about purchasing one of these skates. What would you all say would be the main differences between the 2? What would you suggest between the 2? Let me know. Ultimately I plan on trying on both but before I do, I thought I'd ask you all what you think of both of these skates. Thanks

BZ

They don't fit the same, so one of them is going to feel better. That should be your answer. If you have the ability to try more brands something else may fit you best, so try not to limit yourself going in. Of the two skates you listed, either will be a good quality skate.

From my experience with the CL, it'll fit almost any way you damn well choose, lol. Still can't get over the molding capabilities of that skate. Don't pass on the CL without trying at least one skate that's been baked.

Well the Vapor line is a hybrid type skate it also has thin foam quarters in it, but the integral part of the skate is the anatomical ankle plastic insert, where as ONEXXX.... series don’t have any plastic inserts and the integral part of the skate is all made from foam. That’s why the Vapor line cannot mold in the right places compared to a foam based skate where every part can be molded.

Cheers

but the APX can, correct? I realize it is not the same build as a Vapor x series but it is still considered a vapor.

APX is a T1 with different graphics, this is a marketing strategy by Bauer to slowly fool new generation of kids into believing that it has the DNA of a Vapor, when in reality only the models below the APX line have the Vapor DNA.

What? In the One80 vs T1 thread below you said that they fit differently... which is true, but what do you mean here?

Okay, gotcha. I thought you were contradicting yourself for a moment. If that's going to happen, then it becomes more important for there to be a knowledgeable shop employee for fitting.

You forget Bauer is no longer a privately owned company, it’s all about profit margins now, and making a foam based skate is much cheaper then a traditional skate which has more parts and longer assembly process compared to a foam based skate. Next year they’re introducing another line because the shareholders want more profits. So slowly the company will go from a Porsche mentality into a Toyota mentality, which still comes out with good product, but the goal is different now and the workload on the designers and engineers is much greater.

Cheers.

They're adding 1 skate in production from last year. One. Doesn't seem like much more of a workload to me...
