Opinions on Reebok 8.O.8 stick?

Recommended Posts

I already know one person's opinion on this stick. He said emphatically that he didn't like it. The only other review I could find of it on here was pretty positive, so I'd like to get some opinions on it.

I currently am using an old 85 flex Synergy II shaft with an 11K blade. The shaft is not bad, the blade I love (finally found a pattern that is perfect for me too, Datsyuk). I will need a new blade soon though, and an 8.O.8 can be had for almost as cheap as an 11k blade itself now, so I was considering buying one. My only other OPS experience is with an old Vapor XX from probably 4 years ago that I absolutely loved (but I got it used and it broke soon after I got it) and a 7K SicKick that I liked a lot too. I tried some of the low low low end OPS like a 4K and some cheapo Winwell that I picked up at a Peranis for like $40, both of those felt like trash. Heavy, dead, no pop. Utter trash.

With my Synergy 2 I've used this 11K blade which I love, a CCM Vector 8.0 that I liked a lot, a couple Inno blades that broke in no time, a couple warrior blades that also broke in no time, and a Bauer X60 that was not bad either, but the 11K is by far my favorite (as you can see, the blades break/come apart before the shaft does for me). I'm a lightweight, 5'10" 150lbs, not a whole lot of upper body strength. 80 percent of my shots are toe drag-to-snap-shots (usually trying to change the angle and shoot through a defenseman's legs 1 on 1). Slappers comprise the majority of the rest, pure wrist shots are rare. This 85 flex Synergy II feels a little limp for optimum slap shots though. I have read some posts stating that an 85 flex Reebok is a bit stiffer than an 85 flex easton, true? My 85 flex Synergy II is standard length, not cut, no extension.

I tried to search as best I could but the search feature does not like "8.O.8" or "8.0.8" as a search term, and manually browsing reebok stick threads only turned up 1 opinion (and I asked in chat for the other).

Anyone else want to chime in on the 8.O.8?

I've used this stick for the past year or so and the feel I think is great. I use the perron pro stock version which i think is the same as retail with obvious exceptions of blade pattern and curve. Bought 1, and then bought 2 more to ensure it last a while.

I believe pro and retail came from different manufacturing facilities

The stick is overall stiff. Okay feel, you either get a wicked shot or a muffin. Strong stick and blade, very durable. Blade heavy, O ports don't "speed" your swing speed as much as advertised.

I second that, very durable, and very thick stiff blade. Not made for wristers or snap shots, it is a pure slapshot stick, very good at that. As far as stiffness, my 85 808 feels softer than my 11k 75, and if you have a choice between the 808 and the 11k, i would go with the 11k unless all you do is take slapshots
