Easton Stealth RS in Senior 75 Flex?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know whether Easton has made a senior 75 flex available in the RS?

All LHS shops seem to only stock 85/100 flex Easton RS patterns. Have noticed certain on-line sources, showing some lower flex availability in RS patterns, but these seem to be limited to Intermediate construction. Anyone have any factual info regarding availability?

Also, if the RS is not offered in a senior 75 flex, I would appreciate opinions and experience in using an Intermediate stick at either 65 or 75 flex? My personal specs are 68 yrs old, 5'8", 190 lb, mostly snap and wrist shots with some slaps, non-rushing D.

According to Easton, 75 flex RS's will be available in January.

If you don't feel like waiting, a lot of players have said that the RS plays whippier than listed. I can't say for sure because the only experience I've had with the RS was a pro stock model. Usually Easton's are marked stiffer than they actually are, if uncut. If you look on the back of an Easton stick that has the flex ratings (I don't recall if the RS does), the 85 flex stick will actually be an 80 flex and you have to cut it two inches to get it to become 85 flex.

Thanks for the response.

I usually have to cut the length of Easton's about 5". It is my understanding that, it is a a reasonable guideline to estimate the increase in flex, at approximately 4 points per inch. Based on this guideline, a 5" reduction in length on an original flex 85, would increase the flex to about 105. Using the same relationship, a 75 flex would effectively become a 97 index.

This gives rise to some additional questions for consideration:

1. Is the increase in flex, resulting from a reduction in overall length, a linear or geometric increase? For example, if a 75 flex is cut 5", is there a different rate of flex increase than if an original 85 flex, is reduced by the same 5"? Or does the 85 flex increase at a different rate per inch?

2. Does the rate of altered flex, increase or decrease per inch, for each additional inch cut from the original rated length? For example, is there less change per inch for a shorter length reduction, or does the rate per inch geometrically increase as the stick becomes shorter and shorter?

3. Do the same concepts and guidelines apply to senior, intermediate and junior stick?

4. Do the accepted guidelines vary from manufacturer to manufacturer?

Just some idle thoughts......

I have a RS 85 flex cut down 4" and even at my weight (175lbs) it feels pretty whippy suprisingly, I'm coming off a cut down One95 75 flex and flex wise the RS feels just a little stiffer than that. Seems to have loosened up after a few games, hope this helps.

Sorry, I cant help you with the technical aspects of cutting down the 85 or 75 flex but I'm 5'7", 155lbs and cut 5" off my 85 flex RS (so effectively 105 flex?). Love it. Wouldnt ever think of going to a 75 flex.

Personal opinion is that even with 5" cut off the 85 flex is awesome for wrist and snap shots. Perfect amount of whip/flex. (I don't do a lot of slappers either).
