HS22 Pro Wave and Bauer 2100...help!

Recommended Posts

Trying to fit an Itech HS22 ProWave to a Bauer 2100 (i use this helmet for roller rather than ice).

Having a nightmare so far. The visor seems a LOT wider than the helmet, and the helmet seems to angle inwards where the bottom two screws would go in, the gap is unreal. I dont particularly want to bend the visor too much to get the holes closer.

I'd got the visor off ebay however the seller didn't send me the spacers or screws - I just received some spacers and Bauer long screws I bought from an LHS but the screws are not long enough at all - when i put the screw through the visor then the spacer, the end of the screw is inline with the edge of the spacers ie no thread is visible so nothing to grip into the appropriate fixing on the side of the helmet.

I measured the Bauer "long" screw length and it's 10mm. I'm now thinking of going to my local hardware shop and grabbing some 16mm screws. What I'm not sure of though is the width. Would these be an M3 or M4?

Pics of the visor width vs helmet below if that helps. Also thinking because it's a lower end Bauer helmet that it's maybe not meant to fit these visors etc. Oh and its a 2100M ie Medium adult. Pics attached are clickable to increase the size for ease.

Any advice would be great - I don;t want to go buy longer screws, bend the visor more and have the things shatter etc...thanks in advance!!!

You can check back with your LHS and see if they have different nuts available. I had a problem awhile ago and my LHS was out of longer screws so they used the same shorter screws but switched out the nuts to ones that were much longer. If they have longer nuts at your LHS, you should be able to make due with what you have already. The visor will bend some when installing it. I haven't had one that fits perfectly, even with the spacers.

Why not go back to your LHS and pay them a few bucks to do it?

Judging by his info (and his profile picture), the guy's from Scotland. I wasn't looking for hockey equipment when I lived there, but I wouldn't think there would be heaps of LHSs to choose from. It's Scotland (rugby, football), not Nova Scotia :)

PS: Kanya, where in the Burgh do you play/ skate? I hear there is a rink near Murrayfield, where the team plays, but I don't know if there is any other one.

Thanks for the responses guys. A trip to the local B & Q (Hardware store) proved the ultimate fix. Had to break opena few packs of bolts to check the thread and sizes lol but found an M4 x 16mm was perfect, plus a couple of washers to widen the head of the bolts on the visor side.

As for LHS here...I should have stated mail order HS or Non-LHS lol. There's only one in a 100 mile radius here, the rest closed due to the sport being such a minority.

FAO adalbort - Spot on, Scotland :) I play at Murrayfield for ice (although its been an age) and Jack Kane sports centre for roller. The other rink is in Kirkcaldy in Fife. Both are complete dumps hence my inane jealousy of all rinks in the US of A. if any of you are thinking of visiting the lovely city of Edinburgh at any time, don't make a trip to the rink..it's not worth the luggage space your skates would need lol
