Hockey Pant Mod - Split Thigh

Recommended Posts

Just got a pair of custom warrior franchise pants and played my first game tonight. There are a few things I wasn't thrilled with and I'm thinking about making a couple of mods.

The first is easy. I cut out the six pack belly protector. It was huge... no brainer there.

The second mod is more significant. I didn't love the single, molded thigh pad. I prefer the split thigh like my Bauer pants had. I can access the pad and remove it so I am thinking about cutting it into two pieces.

What is your opinion on this.

Thanks guys... let's hear your thoughts.

I've never opened my Bauer pants so this is a bit of stab in the dark.. isn't there an overlap between the two pieces? by cutting them in half you're going to struggle to make them overlap in the same way; in fact I think it'll be different to keep them in place period. Might be worth thinking about segmenting the pouch that holds the thigh pads?

i've done this before an it was a very easy mod. I own a pair of hustlers as well and I personally didn't find the 1 piece thigh an issue since they have wide legs. I would try them a few more times before making the decision to do the mod.

I split the pads in my bauer/nike..7000? I think? I actually cut the pad in 4's. I used duct tape to hold the 4 pieces back together

and left about 1/4 inch in between... Never had a problem.

I like that idea... it will prevent them from overlapping and slipping around.

What kind of tool did you use to make the cut?

I have to fold the abdominal pad of my CCM U+08s in b/c of that same issue. I have no idea why they may these things go up so high if there is not going to be some way to support the top of them so they don't flop out.

I agree. Its insane. My One90s were bad enough but tat pad was soft. The Warrior belly bad is even bigger and stiffer.
