Brand new S19 making rattling noise

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I just bought a brand new S19. Brought it home cut it down and taped it up and just noticed that it is making a rattling noise in the shaft when I bang the blade against the ground. Does this mean that the stick is defective and will break easily or not perform up to standards? I have had plenty of sticks in the past including an S19 and have never heard this rattle unless the stick was cracked. What do you guys suggest I do???

I've seen this happen where part of the foam/epoxy dislodges inside the hosel/blade. You can't remove the plug and shake it out because it's below the fuse-point. If that's the case, it won't affect the performance of the stick, it just makes noise. If you can't stand it, I'd contact the point-of-purchase and ask for a solution.

This is what I'm thinking it is because that's where the noise seems to be coming from. As long as it doesn't effect the performance then I don't mind because this was the last Zetterberg 85 they had and I am a magician with this twig lol

Another thing that I see alot is that little pieces of the plastic plug break off and fall down inside the stick, take the plug out, hold the stick upside down and shake to see if it falls out

depending on where you bought it. For instance for at Monkeysports we put paper sensors that are easily removable. they are the ones that cause the problem so check that out.

I had/have the same thing occurring. I was able to remove the foam insert and shake the pieces of epoxy out one time. Since the rattle has returned so I will have to go at it again because the rattle is annoying. You might want to try to straighten out a coat hanger and leave a little hook on the end. Snake it down the shaft and see if you can get that foam out. Pieces just may fall out.

I already took the plug out and tried to empty and materials stuck in the shaft but nothing came out. I will check for the paper sensors but the sound seems to be coming from the hosel.

Ya the rattle is annoying but does it actually affect your play?

I do not believe the rattling affects performance but it is annoying. There is a piece of soft free floating foam in the shaft, I snagged it with the coat hanger I referenced and the pieces began to fall out. I could nto get the pieces out without removing the foam.
