sdougherty 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2012 So today during our game, killing the penalty our guys decided to get caught in the corner, so I slide into the slot and a guy threw an elbow and destroyed my face. It cracked my visor in half (bauer pro cut) cut me in about 7-8 places on my face, busted my nose (broken) and my lip (pretty much ripped to shreds on the inside). He got away with no penalty, and then complained when the ref blew the whistle.. I was laying on the ice in a puddle of blood and this asshole was complaining about the whistle... well I am home now (game was at 7:15 EST) and all put back together. I have to get ready for another game in two weeks!
mug25 2 Report post Posted February 27, 2012 Damn that sucks! Heal up soon and get back on the ice.I second guess wearing just a visor every time I see someone get cut in the face/mouth but a cage just bothers me too much.

It seems to offer more protection.Wow, get well! That must have been some elbow to break your visor!!! Yikes!Yeah he was skating hard into the middle and destroyed me apparently. Im only going from the people who saw it happen, I don't really remember it I couldn't even tell you where I was or what day it was. I thought I had a concussion for sure. goaliemanshark 6 Report post Posted February 27, 2012 Seriously? After all that and you still don't consider wearing a cage?I got whacked in the face on a follow through from a one timer last week. I was sure I had a concussion, thankfully all the symptoms were in my head and made up. I can't even imagine what would have happened to my face if I didn't have a cage. It's seriously not that bad, the bars disappear.
hrvd214 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2012 While I am of the opinion that I won't be wearing a visor until teams start paying me to play, if you must continue to weat a visor perhaps consider switching to the Bauer X100 visor. If is the visor that is mandatory in most Canadian Junior Leagues and was worn by teams during the WJC. Its a good deal larger than the pro cut and attaches to the helmet in a more "sturdy" manor. sdougherty 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2012 I've considered that too. There's a Bauer one that goes further down too I think.I just bought the Oakley, got it for 30$ on Ebay. Ill let you know what I think of it coming from a normal visor.
Doctor Hook 0 Report post Posted February 29, 2012 You made note of this guy's jersey number for next game, correct? If it's an accident, that's one thing...but I am airing on the side of it was intentional AND the d-bag had the huevos to chirp to the ref about it because of the whistle?I'm sorry, but if that was me, then it would stop being a casual beer league game and it'd turn into man vs. man and that's that.
