Tongue replacement on Easton EQ5's

I'm not really sure how it happened, but one of my tongues has a big rip in it, and now i'm looking to replace them, but I took a look at where the tongue and the toe cap meet, and it almost looks like one part of the tongue goes under the toecap and one part is stitched on top, not like on my s17's. I was wondering if anybody had changed out the tongues on their EQ5's, and if they had any problems, or had to do anything special for it to work. I haven't asked the local shoe repair guy that has changed tongues on my last skates, but hopefully he should know as well.

all skates basically stitch through the toe cap, shouldnt be any different that replacing tongues on any other skates

Have not done this on EQ5's specifically, but I did replace the tongues on my old One95's with the "over/under" setup you described. I posted a DIY a while back here:
