Mid-Curve to Toe-Curve?

Recommended Posts

So I've been using an APX for about 2 months, and I've use retail sticks all my life... (Mostly Backstrom and Sakic), and the APX broke a game ago. I'd really like a pro-stock Hossa. So, my question is, is it that much of a difference going from a Backstom/Sakic to a huge toe curve like Hossa? I usually take wrist shots and snap shots, sometimes clappers, but not often. Stickhandling wise, is it harder? Puck control?

Thanks

you will have more flat space on the blade, that should make it easier to use the backhand for shots and passes, as well as controlling the puck. The biggest difference will be shooting.

Will there be in increase in power, or decrease, or does it depend on the player?

The Hossa pro is a tricky blade, at least for me. I went from Sakic clones to the Gionta and back with no problems whatsoever. The Hossa pro didn't really click for me because it goes from the back half of the blade being flat to a big open spot from the mid to the toe.

However, from the Gionta to Sakic aspect, I didn't really notice to much of a difference overall between the two. I ended up getting rid of the Gionta because I don't like how low of a lie it is. I know this didn't answer your question, but I hope this helps somewhat.

Depends on your technique. Generally, I have less power, but I shoot differently with a toe-curve. If I get a good shot off, there's not much of a difference versus my Sakic.

1. the biggest difference between curves will be in release point and accuracy

2. power will come more from flex than curve

3. all of that depends on you and your shooting form/motion

Thanks buddy.

I'll take it into consideration. But hey, I'm now running an APX I just got for $160 (P88) today, felt pretty good actually. I found the pro-stock Hossa for $100 (CCM U+ CL) pretty good deal, I think!
