Bauer Total One Skates Tongue (Pro Stock Mod)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I've seen this topic locked in the past, but I'm curious as to if anyone knows anything about a particular picture I found:

It seems to be a pro stock skate as mentioned in the description, but it looks to have a standard layer of thick felt added to the back of the standard issue factory tongue.

Was this a complete custom tongue from the beginning? Or can you buy a layer of felt and essentially glue it on to the back of the standard tongue?

If it's a pro stock skate, it might be something Bauer did for the player out of the factory, but I don't know much about that, only the modifications afterwards.

Typically that is a nice, dense piece of felt glued and then sewed to the back of the existing factory tongue.

It is not likely a whole tongue replacement after the fact, because it's extremely tough to get a sewing machine into the right place with respect to the tendon guard in the way.

Thanks for the answers guys. Generally can this felt be purchased at a craft store if I can sew it to a standard tongue myself? It seems like felt comes in mm standard, but I'm not confident one can purchase felt with the density of a skate tongue at a craft store.

I think you'll have trouble finding a felt with a proper density at a craft store. Anything from there will be too thin, break down or compress too quickly, or not be high enough quality.
