When baking skates should I take the wheels off?

Recommended Posts

I would believe so, the procedure for baking roller always involves taking the wheels off, at least that's how it's done around here.

Uhhhh...I'd kind of assume the heat would do bad things to the rubber wheels, but...that's just my opinion. What do I know, I can't even frickin' pop out my bearings.

leave them on, no reason to take them off. There's a lot more heat involved in making urethane wheels than what the skate oven will ever push on them. Check out Alkali's vid where Joe Cook specifically talks about it:

Can i bake my Bauer XR3's? I skated in them once with some pain in my feet. If so, is there any specific things i need to do before, during, and after baking besides wear them for a while? I apologize if this has been covered; this is my first time baking skates.
