Tour brand reputation

Being new to the roller world, I wasn't sure what brands were "good" when I bought all my gear. Since I wasn't sure if I'd stick with roller to begin with (I most definitely will, as it's a lot of fun and a good workout) I bought on price and went for mid to fairly low priced gear.

I picked up a set of Tour 10W30 pants, Tour 50BX girdle, and lower level Tour 800 skates (also got a padded shirt but I never wear it). All three pieces of equipment have held up after almost 10 games and I'm happy with them, but since I've been more of an ice hockey over roller hockey guy previously, I was just curious on perceptions of the Tour brand in the roller hockey community.

If I could put them in ice hockey terms, my guess is that Tour is maybe the equivalent of Bauer as far as reputation, durability, value, "sexiness", etc are concerned? No real basis to that statement, other than the fact that I'm usually a Bauer for protective kind of guy for puck and I find that I am seeing a lot of different price points but overall good quality/durability from both Tour and Bauer.

Tour has been around for quite a while in the roller ranks with their forte particularly in skates. They're still popular among many players today. I feel their protective gear, sticks, and apparell were never really that popular, though. Maybe due to lack of interest in the roller hockey industry 10-12 years ago compared to today. I feel like Tour has always needed help from someone like Labeda as their skates are often paired with their wheels or chassis.

With the evolution of roller/ice, advancements in gear, and growing popularity of the sport -- there is mixing an matching all the time by companies and players. I'm a dedicated roller player dressed head to toe in Bauer. Having been through 2 pairs of Tour Skates (962, First generation Code 1) and now on converted Bauer X60s-- the performance and hold up of Bauer is far superior.

I don't think I ever saw Tour being used in the NHL by anyone.....i vaguely remember Keith Primeau wearing their gloves -- that's about it. So, yes....Tour is good, but no where to the level of Bauer (imo).

I'd never really consider Tour for any ice hockey gear, partly because I'm a Bauer man but also because it just doesn't seem like ice is their forte. Their lower level roller gear which I own has done exactly what I needed in the fact that I didn't want to spend big bucks on gear on a sport I just wanted to try. Good info, gents.

Tour was really popular maybe 10 or so years ago. Might have been when the began, I just remember everyone wanted tour gear when I was starting to get out of roller for awhile. It was somewhere around 10ish years ago. They where always the gear with all the crazy designs and decals. I've never heard any real complaints about them that I haven't heard from any of the big names. I've never used them but their gear just isn't for me. I see far more people with their skates then anything else the offer. Although their gloves use to be pretty nice.

Used to wear mission for roller religiously until I actually wanted to see what else was out there. I picked up some barely used code carbons (higher end model few years ago) for cheap and love them to this day. Very light weight and comfortable with little to no signs of wear n tear. Also got some some tour spartan pants recently and prefer those over any mission pant ive ever owned. Never used their gloves but the G7's look sick.
