Skates: Reebok 20K vs Bauer APX

Recommended Posts

Hello.

Last year use CCM U 12+ (D), and all year my heel have heel lift up ~ 2-2.5 mm, but not left or right. At last game my E-Pro holder has broken at heel. It's time to bought new skates...

Possiton: Forward

H: 5'11

W: 162

1.Bauer APX 8.5 (D) have 272mm holder, RBK 20K 8.5 (D) - 280mm holder, how difference in skates on ice? I lose speed on 272mm compared 280mm?

2.I do notskates on Tuuk LS2 holder, which is the difference compared to the E-Pro?

3.I'm agile and speed skater, what would pereferable for me?

4.RBK 20K have termoformable formed around the ankle and heel?

5.Any difference between heel and ankle lock in : RBK 7K vs RBK 20K? In RBK 7K (without baking) my heel don't lock.

6.How skates have less weight?

7.At time RBK 20K more tehnologic compare to Bauer APX ?

8.In new skates (defore baking) my toes touch toe cap when i standing?

Thanks!

Whichever skate fits you best will be the better skate for you, try both on and you can go from there. If you cannot try them on, Reebok would be closest to CCM regarding fit IMO (used CCM Reebok for goal and player skates) and the APX will be narrower. Again, all the features and differences won't matter much if you pick the skate that best fits your foot.

Absolutely, everything else isn't as relevant after fit.

4. Yes, almost all skates nowadays are heat mouldable

5. Yes, Reebok repositioned the Pump in their new line, moving it further back than before. In your 7K's the Pump had more of a push IN on ankles action whereas the new Pump has more of a push DOWN on ankles/heel, so technically they should have better heel lock as far as I know.

6,7. Both top end skates, so they should be pretty even. One thing I can tell you is that the 20Ks are not as stiff out of the box as the APXs.

8. Perfect fit for an adult is when their toes skim the front when standing.

1. No. You can slap some LS2.1, if you are afraid of the shorter steel length.

2. E-pro is stronger and heavier (more comparable to the TUUK+). the LS tuuk is more flexible (some like that).

4. Even If they are, personally I wouldn't do it on the 20k.

Hard to comment on the 20k since they just came out.

But you should take into account : the pump won't last forever (not relevant if you change skate every year), they are both properly overpriced, one is made in canada - the other in Thailand (altho having inspected both I'd say the Apxs offer a better quality than the 20ks surprisingly). Try to find a shop able to fit you properly (these places are really hard to come by unfortunately..).

I have to say the 20ks are extremely sexy and if they follow the path of the 11ks they are gonna be decent solid skates.

Haha  thanks for the input, though I agree; I much prefer the look of the 20Ks over the 11Ks, doesn't look as cheap imo.

Why don't you like to bake them? It's safe even with the Pump, just deflate it prebaking.
