Bauer 8090 vs Flexlite

Recommended Posts

I have tried on Flexlites, but have never had the chance to try on 8090's. Could anyone how has experience with both models comment on fit differences? Is the Flexlite forefoot wider than the 8090? Also is the heel of the Flexlite narrower than the 8090. I understand the 8090 is a deep fitting skate, deeper than the Flexlite or about the same. Thanks for any input.

I recently bought Flexlite 4.0 Pros. The fit is very deep.... So deep that I went back to CCM/RBK after about 10 uses (even after adding thicker Superfeet green insoles). They are a pretty wide-fitting skate, as well. Unfortunately, I haven't been in Bauer since the old 3000s, so I can't make a direct comparison to the 8090. Great skate, they just felt weird to me, even after having them on the ice for a while.

I have both 8090's and Flexlite 4.0's in size 7.5ee. The fit is definitely different, 8090 is much deeper, flexlite feels wider to me. The 8090's are the only skate that has fit my foot, as I have a very deep foot, especially from the bottom of my foot to the top of the foot, if that makes sense? I have found the flexlites to not be as tall in the midfoot area, and i have also gotten a little bit of heel slop in the flexlites, but that may just be from a poor fit for my foot. For my foot, it also seems as though I have waaaaay more room in the toebox of the flexlite, compared to the 8090, feels a bit wider and taller (probably due to the new style 'ergo' toecap)... I don't have the best skate fit vocabulary, but I can try to answer any questions you have based on a comparison of the skates...

My goal here is deciding to wait for a new skate to be released that has a fit that is described as a cross between a 8090 and a Flexlite, or go with something available now. I have had Flexlites on my feet and found everything to fit okay except the forefoot width, which was ( in a D width) a bit wider than I'd need. I have never tried on 8090's so I have no reference point. If the 8090 has a narrower fit in the forefoot, and the same or more heel lock, then I might deduct that the new model may be worth waiting for. My mid-foot gets pretty high volume as well so either skates fit charactoristic regarding depth would likely work. Basically I am trying to do some detective work understanding that specific info on new skate models may not yet be available to the general public. In some Supremes right now and find the D width Supreme to be a little tight all around but the EE width a little to big, except for depth which is passable. Thanks !!!

Won't the new nexus range be exactly what you are after/waiting on?

I think so, but that is what I am trying to determine. If it has the same or narrower fit in the heel as a Flexlite and is a bit narrower in the forefoot then yes.
