wetwilly17 6 Report post Posted April 29, 2012 i weigh 155 lbs. i skate very aggressively (hard turns, explosive starts, etc...) so i've always used xsoft labeeda wheels (which i believe are equivalent to 74a durometer). the soft labeeda (equivalent to 76a i believe) do not provide enough grip for me.i see that the softest, red addictions are rated equivalent to 76a. i have a set of the red addictions that came with my skates but i haven't used them yet. i've been wondering if they will provide enough grip for me? i'd hate to use them once, not like them, and then not be able to sell them at a decent price.i'd like comments from the lighter players (preferably those who skate aggressively) on the addiction wheels and how they compare to the regular xsoft wheels. any help is appreciated.thanks! mhkehoe 1 Report post Posted April 29, 2012 I am at your weight, and I used the Labeda Millennium wheels (74A, I think that is the xxsoft) and they were perfect for me. The 76A I tried worked, but there was definitely some slipping when skating aggressively.
stock07 1 Report post Posted April 29, 2012 I weigh roughly the same as you and have used the Red addictions since they came out with no grip/wear problems...The best wheels I have ever skated on!
Vet88 674 Report post Posted April 30, 2012 I'm 10 pounds heavier, just put them on after using the black rink rat xxx grip that came stock with the rbk 10k skates. Definite loss of grip but that will be compensated by longer rink life. It's a trade off you need to weigh up.
wetwilly17 6 Report post Posted April 30, 2012 Thanks for the help. I'm going to just sell them

TeamBlue96 3 Report post Posted May 2, 2012 thanks TeamBlue. it seems like you liked the grip until ice court shredded them. do you think addiction reds grip as good as xsoft gripper or gripper millenium? i skate on sport court and wood tile. The addictions gripped well NEW, but so do all wheels. After a few sessions...they gripped as good as my Rinkrat Splits -- so my purchase wasn't justified. I've never used the grippers; only the milleniums that i'm on now. It's been quite a few weeks since and the milleniums are holding up very well. I still feel like the milleniums grip better than anything i've used. Also, as you read, i swapped wheels when going to ice court and i would do the same for wood. Wood grips better than any surface i've ever skated on and probably eats wheels even harder. That was the last time I ever used a soft or xxx grip type wheel on a wood surface.
wetwilly17 6 Report post Posted May 2, 2012 yeah but waxed wood tile only grips well when it is clean
Vet88 674 Report post Posted May 3, 2012 Never skated on wood tile, only on indoor halls / gyms / multi purpose event centers that have planks as the floor with a polyurethane covering. However get some dirt on any surface and it turns to custard. A wooden surface I train on has a Friday night party on it once a month or so, the next day it's about as slippery as an ice rink.....
