good stick for inline hockey

Sup guys

My easton ST is cracking on the bottom of the blade and i have to get another stick soon. I'm wondering which sticks have a stronger blade that won't crack on the bottom as easily. I play indoors btw. thx

How much do you want to spend? Of all the top end sticks I've used the Bauer TotalOne has held up the best and for the past 6 months it's been my go to practice slap shot stick. As to sticks in use at our club and other players I know, blade cracks are the main reason I wouldn't recommend Bauer APX, Easton ST / SE16 / S19 / EQ50 / Mako or Warrior Diablo / Spyne / Widow. I've only just got my Rbk ai.9 but by all accounts these are meant to be a step up in the durability of the blade.

However it mainly depends on the player, your form and the type of game you play. For all the sticks I've named I see players who have used them for over a year and they are still going strong.

you'd get more for your money with a two piece setup. not so much for inline, but for ice i go through blades way faster than shafts so it only makes sense for me to go the two-piece route. regarding blade durability, you aren't going to beat the st.

do they even make the st anymore or has it changed names?

A 2 piece setup makes sense, especially as you already have an ST stick and they are easy to convert to a shaft. Then buy blades of eBay, around $40 gets you a top end blade (the ST takes tapered blades, I've stuck many an SE16 blade into an ST shaft).

Alternatively BASE are meant to sell an ok mid range one piece that survives well.

my buddy used a base and the bottom cracked when playing roller hockey. Can you tell me where to cut the ST?

You should be able to see the join if you look closely at the stick about 4 inches above the heel. A thin line will indicate where the join of the blade and shaft occur. Cut about 2 mm above this point. A mitre or drop saw helps here so you get a straight cut. To get the shaft of the blade out, either use a chisel or I have had success by heating the shaft and pushing a long rod through from the other end. then just give the inside of the shaft a file to make sure it is nice and clean and then your replacement blade should slide in.

Some have had success by just heating the shaft at the join and pulling on the blade. Myself I have never got this to happen so always resort to the cut and hack.
