ehrlse 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2012 Okay so I have played ice hockey my whole life and played a little roller hockey about 5 years ago. I am definetly pretty good, but I am wearing my roller blades from back then. they are some pair of ncheap bauers that I got at modells. if I try and spin ther wheel they stop instantly. So I am playing indoor on a sport court and think I am going to play more and more, so I think it is time for some new skates.can you guys give me some recomendations? I played ice hockey from pee wee up to college and always had bauers (vapor 40's are what I currently have). I am 5'7" 150 pounds if that matters and skate aggressively. I don't care about brands and will spend alot if it is truly worth it. I need your advice. I know new models will be coming out soon so I will wait if thats the best option. I am a size 8.5 shoe so would be like a 7/7.5 I think? I like a really snug fit. Thanks in advance
applesauce9 0 Report post Posted June 19, 2012 Well if you're wearing vapors now I would suggest to stick with vapors in roller. Most of the shops carry them and if you're not near one Inlinewarehouse.com has a good return policy. I know a couple kids with the XR5's and they like them a lot. I don't know how high up you want to go or the money you are looking to spend but they are also releasing the XR Premier which is a step higher than the XR5 on September 15. wetwilly17 6 Report post Posted June 20, 2012 I would wait for the XR Premier. Just better materials/frame/wheelsjust googled those skates...they look great. as i understand it, the xr5 are basically the same as the rx60, but aluminum chassis and different wheels. i currently wear rx60s for inline because the rest of the vapor line (at the time) was too big. will the XR premier have the slimmer fit as well?as far as i can tell, the xr premier only looks like the frame will be better. what else is better? i think the switch from dynasty's to variants is a personal preference thing - one not necessarily better than the other. henryb 4 Report post Posted June 20, 2012 I just happen to be in south LA this week on business. Been to Hockey Monkey, Hockey Giant, The Rinks Pro Shop... They all have a few pairs of Bauer Vapor RX:60's left, not sure if they have your size or not, but those skates are certainly a notch up on the XR5's... Worth trying to find a pair in your size. Also, I HATE Aluminum frames. I would buy that skate just for the Mag frame. So sick of Aluminum frames denting. Use to drive me nuts.
