AussieFlyersFan 0 Report post Posted June 24, 2012 I'm am just starting out and have purchased the bauer vapor x20 pants, which a crap. As a newbie i fall constantly and i am looking for a pant that has good tailbone protection as i end up on my arse a lot. Is there any more or less padding between the easton s13/s19 or eq30/eq pants. Going to a store to try them on isnt really an option as the stores in Australia are limited and mostly stock equipment from 5 years ago.
AIREAYE 248 Report post Posted June 24, 2012 There is obviously more as you go up in price. There will be more in the EQ50 than the S19 iirc.
romdj 26 Report post Posted June 24, 2012 definitely more protection in the eq line, but why do you want to stick with easton? not that it's not a good brand, but if I want some protection, I'd rather go with tackla...
AIREAYE 248 Report post Posted June 24, 2012 definitely more protection in the eq line, but why do you want to stick with easton? not that it's not a good brand, but if I want some protecion, I'd rather go with tackla...Personally, I've seen enough people NOT fit into Tackla to not recommend them to people who can't try them on. Though you're right, I'd go Tackla over any other brand anyday provided I can get them on.

The vapor x20 pants were about $118 US, hence i will be buying from overseas and wont really be able to try before i buy. i haven't really seen tackla available to try out

IPv6Freely 2100 Report post Posted June 26, 2012 I went from X:20 pants to Easton EQ30. Really couldn't be happier. Just be prepared for a MUCH stiffer pad. A whole lot less flexibility, especially at first. But otherwise, fantastic pants.
bolt91 31 Report post Posted June 26, 2012 In MY personal experience, all of the Easton stuff I have had has fallen apart within 6 months. The higher end Bauer pants have a lot more protection and are definitely well made. My Supreme One75s have been great since the day I got them.If you're interested in Bauer, the Vapor X:40s should be on clearance right now. I helped one of my friends get started in hockey and this was her first pair. She loves the protection- especially when falling all the time. If you're looking at the newer stuff, the Supreme Total Ones, One80s or Vapor APXs, X 7.0s are great.
AIREAYE 248 Report post Posted June 26, 2012 In any case, avoid CCM and Warrior as CCMs are shorter and Warriors size larger.
bwhinnen 1 Report post Posted June 26, 2012 Where in AU are you based? Depending on where will determine the LHS to visit. Some are obviously better than others. Up here in QLD we have a great store locally run by someone that knows and loves his hockey and understands the needs of his customers. While he doesn't have the biggest range of current model pants in (good luck finding that anywhere in AU for anything other than top models), he can try to get stuff in. He will also do pretty good pricing as most AU retailers are now starting to leverage good pricing from the distributors. Not to mention they have some older models in and should be able to do some fairly good pricing on them.Always remember that good online stores in the US will not ship Bauer or Easton out of the US due to their agreements with Bauer and Easton, so you'll have to use a mail forwarding service to do this, and sometimes the LHS can come pretty close to matching the prices of the US gear, without taking the extra expense of international shipping into account.
