Tendon guard broken Grag G5 used 20 times only ?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am in UK and purchsed a pair of GRaf G5's about 8 moths ago , I could not get on with skates so they were not used for about 5 months - i continued wearing Daoust 555's :-) , so they have now been worn once a week for 20 weeks or so and still no joy, i have replaced them with a heavily used pair of X60's which i love, noo now i want to sell the G5 but one of the tendon guards has failed and the fabric is starting to tear where it flexes.

Where do i stand with tendon guard, it should not have failed after such light use surely?, they were purchased from a HS in UK but before i speak to them just wanted some advice opinions please. ...... i think its a common issue as I also bought some used ones from ebay ad they had same issues.

Cheers

Ross

BTW I have not taped guard or done anything to promote early failure, im 200lbs, been off ice for 20years and just doing some very light beer league training ...thats it ...they are probably not even broken in properly yet ...

Do you take your skates off by pushing down on the tendon guard? That's probably the #1 reason why they fall apart.

The number two reason would be the guys that sit back on their heels when they skate. It happens a lot with people that wear Graf too.

No never removed using tendon guard..

I really don't think so ..i skate in a very prounounced forward stance on my toes and crouched over .....which was why i bought the G5's thinking they would suit me.....i use a 5.5 lie so really don't think its that, the boots just seem poor quality on so many points..

I've seen guys break them from wrapping laces around the back, as well as grabbing the tendon guard, and hitting the heel to the floor to clear ice off the blade.
