Done with warrior. What to get next?

Recommended Posts

Id say Bauer is really solid, or any other brand except Warrior. Me too i have had my diablo, dynasty and widows breaking down at the blade prematurely, things that i have not experienced not nearly that much with other brands, hell even my ccm's outlasted every warrior stick ive had. I loved how those sticks feel and shoot, but Im done with Warrior too unless they can prove that they fixed their blade issues.

+1 here.

Really tempted to get the Bauer supreme totalone since there is a coupon on hockey giant for them. Just have to figure out what curve i want. Anyone use the p92 backstrom?

The Warrior dolomite was my go to stick for years. Once they came out with the Dolomite DD or whatever it was i noticed the blade quality dropped durastically. I was splitting blades every 2 games.. sometimes sooner. Im currently using Bauer Nexus now and i love it

....you like it? I'm coming from draper curve so backstrom is very similar

Youll like the p92 if you liked the Draper.Make sure to pick the right lie if have a choice.

Yes, exactly what happened to me, the blade on the dynasty split after 2 games and 2 shinnys. Mind yourself i dont take slapshots, only wristers and snaps shots. I have used a Bauer a xxx, x60 and a TO recently, while the blade lost its pop after 6 months or so or regular usage, it is still in perfect shape, and in my experience bauer is light years ahead or warrior in the durability department.

What i dont understand is that I rarely see pros breaking warrior blades. At least in warriors case the pros are actually using a "fairly close " to retail stick. Well its a real widow instead of a 0ne95 painted like a TO or APX. In fact of all the pro stock sticks, I know some guys in 2 NHL equipment rooms, there are very few guys with APX or TO sticks.

Then I think back to the whole, you wont break a stick if you have correct form. I mean you are breaking blades, what kind of shot do you have? Or are you getting hacked or jamming the puck into boards? I just dont understand it. Did my widows chip easy? Sure, but my APX and TO did the same. My Bauers blades broke down so fast you can hear the foam if you barely twist the blade. Both my APX and TO had blade separation that was cover by Bauer warranty.

I look back to the POS wood blades we all used to use, I would buy blades that had maybe a layer of epoxy and glass and was basically wood. Again I do not understand how people with correct form are breaking blades unless you have unbelievable stress at the connection point of the blade and shaft, like maybe your stick is too long???

I have a good technique and a decent shot. And it happened to me only with warrior. Why my bauers, reeboks, ccms didnt break after a few games/practices if my form is not good? also lets not get into the what the pros use and how many bauers sticks and in the league, but wasnt Kovalchuk going throught 1500 warrior sticks per season?

Lets get into how many of the TO Nexus apx and X60s are in the league. Seeing most guys use a G3, one95 etc. Where did you pull the Kovy number from? Some guys go through sticks like no other. One guy switched to RS from bauer and my friend was taking 20+ sticks at a time to the pro shop for sales. he changed sticks in between periods.

Also correct me if I am wrong but didnt you mention before you are using a INT flex?

you are wrong, i am not using an intermediate flex, and what difference it makes if i did?

I remember seeing a thread about Kovy some time ago here on the forum.

Do you even know what is G3 stands for? its not a bauer brand of sticks.

I bought 6 Widows last year, figuring that would cover me for the year. I played roughly 80 games last year, then throw in some open hockey and some stick and puck, and that about covers a normal hockey year for me, to give anyone reading an idea of my usage.

I didn't break any of them, am still using 3 of them this fall and haven't even cut down 2 of them yet. And there's no signs of splitting, etc. I play center and wing, but I take lots of draws and therefore the sticks take a fair share of hacks from that as well. And seeing as how I use dangle grips on the blades, which means the rockers are in direct contact with the ice, I'd be shocked that they're not shredded, if I took everything I read on the internet as gospel. This past year was the first time I can recall that I didn't really bounce around from brand to brand all year long. I'm not particularly partial to any brand, I like to try anything and go with what works for me, but in no way has my personal experience with Warrior sticks mirrored what I've read in a lot of this thread.

I think all things that can break, will break. I also think that some people manage to break things a whole lot more often than others. Understanding exactly why that is over the internet is almost as difficult as getting anyone to admit that, "yeah, maybe I broke it" as opposed to "It broke, therefore it sucks." And sometimes people just have bad luck.

I know it's not a top of the line stick or anything, but I broke my Warrior Hitman (85 flex / Draper curver) on Sunday :(

I really enjoyed the stick for the 4 months I had it. I bought two at the time so I have a "brand new" one waiting to be used, but I'm still kind of bummed about losing one of my fav sticks so far.

It was no fault of Warrior. I inadvertently blocked a really hard slapshot from a guy who plays in a German Pro league and the puck deflected off the shaft of the stick and it took a good sized chunk out it. I used clear shin pad tape to bandage the stick for a couple months (btw this works great), but it finally took its last shot on sunday.

Sad to see it go, but I expect big things out of its twin brother since it wont be blocking any rediculously hard slap shots like its predecessor.

That being said, I have a CCM U+10 (Intermediate / 65 flex / Crazy Ovi curve) that I also really enjoy using. Admitedly, it is useless as spit while digging in the corners as it bends like a wet noodle, but nonetheless another great stick with a very fun curve pattern.

i think this might be a bit off but feel free to correct me. Keith from warrior has stated many times that warrior offers the most customization out of all the major equipment manufacturers at the NHL level. It would stand to reason that most sticks in the NHL are fairly customized and not like retail in most cases.

I agree with gr8erade on all accounts. so much of reputation is anecdotal, i'd like to see some empirical numbers just to get the bias out of the discussion. I've had the same durability issues with bauer sticks as i've had with warrior sticks so i'd like to see if one is actually more durable than the other.

I tend to buy Warrior, Bauer and Easton sticks, and have had very few durability problems with any of them. I play on average about 2 times per week, am a decent sized guy with a fairly hard shot, but I just don't seem to have the durability problems other people have, with any brand. Sticks and blades never really go soft on me (maybe slightly, but only slightly), I rarely snap/splinter blades, and I rarely break shafts. Funnily enough, the only stick I've had in recent memory that broke quickly on me was a Bauer one95, a stick that has a reputation on MSH for being extremely durable.
