I've never had any major issues going from the US to Canada. Generally the shipping costs are a bit higher, there may be customs fees (though I have yet to have them on anything shipped cross boarder). The only real issue I've ever had is that once in awhile it will be held up at the boarder for a couple of days.

Aside from Canada Post taking its time there should be no real problems with ordering from Canada. Now going the opposite way is a whole other story...

Namely taxes that have to be paid if you use UPS/Fedex. And those are paid by the person your shipping to, not you(shipper). Hence it is cost prohibitive sometimes to use a courier service vs USPS if your shipping to someone in Canada. So if your shipping to Canada people prefer USPS.

Can take up to a month for the object to clear customs. I've had to pay taxes/ custom fees to +/-50% of the products I brought in.

Which I understand, considering that same objects are about 25% more expensive in canada (even MIC stuff which I find absurd...)

I've never had an issue with getting equipment from Canada shipped to me in the States. (For the reasons others have mentioned already) I'll only go do it for trades or if there's a specific item that I've been having a hard time finding in the U.S.

Canada's federal mail carrier is canada post, but for the most part parcel service is canada is privatized since canada post is so expensive and unreliable, look into the company "Purolator" they are a big shipping company up here, I have always had duty problems when stuff was shipped to me in canada but non when stuff was ship to my parents house in the states.
