Kyle Friedman 9 Report post Posted November 2, 2012 All you're going to hear here is that its all personal preference which, it is.Iv skated on hummer and vanguard.I went from Vanguard to hummer stayed on hummer for 7 months and went back to vanguard. The hi-lo vanguard set up is the most comfortable for me, I find it to be the best combination of speed, agility and stopping. Plus it is very light weight. My vote goes to the vanguard set up especially if you can get a magnesium chassis. With that said, you may prefer another setup. HBPuckstopper 0 Report post Posted November 2, 2012 What he said^^ Ive skated on Missions all my life so i have a little bias towards the hi-lo setup. Im on vanguards right now, not a big fan of the pitch of the Hummers. I prefer vanguards over magnesiums just because theyre stronger and its not enough of a weight difference to be worth it imo. henryb 4 Report post Posted November 2, 2012 You may want to check out the Sprung Hockey thread, a few weeks back there was a posting that listed the different pitches of a handful of chassis.
Kanya 3 Report post Posted November 3, 2012 Skated on all of them. All 80 set up is good for top end speed but crap for turning compared to the vanguard. Hi lo set up is def better although I actually prefer the 72-80 to the 76-80. Seems more nimble.Just played a tournament today, half the games I used my hilo setup and the other half on my one90s with an a6 sprung set up. Sprungs blow them all out the water...turning, stopping and the speed is far better. Felt so much more agile on them today. They're pretty solid too. Deflected a slapper and zero marks. Took a similar shot off my mag vanguards and they snapped.Anyway if its between hummer and hilo id say hilo however it depends on your playstyle too. I like being faster and more nimble. althoma1 575 Report post Posted November 4, 2012 Sprungs blow them all out the water...turning, stopping and the speed is far better.I echo this sentiment, but my comparison would be vs. an all 76mm flat chassis, an all 72mm flat chassis and the Tuuk Rocker Chassis (with 76mm wheels). I haven't used the Hummer or HiLo (beyond skating around in some in a store), but the Sprung is a definite upgrade over the Tuuk Rocker and the flat chassis I've used in the past.My only complaints are that the rocker knuckles can break on the A6 and they require a bit more maintenance, but the performance is definitely superior. The knuckles breaking can be minimized by only going through the doors on shift changes (avoid hoping - henryb gave me this great tip) and take them apart and hydrate them regularily (soak them in water). Doing those two things has drastcially reduced the number of rockers I've been going through. A beefed up A6X rocker is also planned, but there's no ETA for that at this point.
