Reebok Skate Fit Question

Recommended Posts

Hello All.

I am currently wearing Bauer Vapor x7.0 size 6D. I am looking into getting another pair of skates and was looking at the Reebok 20K Pump Skates. I went and tried them on this past weekend. The 6Ds were way too loose. The 5.5D felt comfortable, but I did have a little bit of looseness in the heel area. My big toe on both feet brushed up against the toe caps. The 5D felt like they had good heel lock, but my big toe on both feet felt really cramped, almost like they were being pushed sideways.

I guess my question is should I go with the 5.5D and put in some insoles (like Superfeet Yellow) that would take up a little bit of the volume? Or should I go with the 5D and hope that they stretch out some?

I have very flat feet and wear a size 7 in shoes albeit they do fit a little tight. I can also wear a 7.5 depending on the shoe.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If the heel is loose even after using the pump, look for another brand because rbk won't probably fit you well..

Stay away from Reebok if the heel is loose out of the box. With use, heat and sweat will make it "bigger", which in the long run will make them even more loose.

Even though I agree with above two posters since I have the same issue, one also need to consider that your feet does expand when you're on the ice working hard.

Agreed with the first two responders. June, you shouldn't have to count on that to make a purchase decision, they have to fit snug out of box/post bake at least. Any expansion is simply working them in/breaking them in and you can't count on any particular degree of that.

Vapor and Reebok are very very different in fit, opposite ends of the 'spectrum' to put it metaphorically. The Vapor will have a boxier toebox (and you noticed this) with a narrower forefoot and heel. Keep trying on different skates in 5.5 and 6. Get the one that fits best and if nothing else does, than stick to your Vapors.

Not your heel, just the fleshy parts of your feet.

What don't u like about the vapors? I also have x4.0 vapors on a size 6 d. Been trying to do everything I can to make them work but I don't think they are the right skate for me. I think the volume is too low and I'm cutting off the curculation in my feet. Reeboks are way too wide for me. I'm thinking about Bauer supreme next or Graf since they have many profile options.

Well cutting off circulation is just probably a matter of how you tie laces. But if volume is too low, yeah Vapor are not the best choice. I learned skating with a pair of cheap Supreme One20 that had too much volume for me, now I'm in the same skates you use (just size 7D) and after a year of usage I can't be more happier: heel is locked even if I liked a bit more Supremes on that, but the most important thing is that also my forefoot stays in place and there are no negative spaces near my ankles.

Will give a shot at the NXG when I'll have to change skates, but probably will stay on the Vapor line until they don't make big changes or if my feet change :D

If I tie them tight I cut off circulation. Leave them looser and I don't feel stable. Now the boot is cutting in to my leg at the top. Tried leaving top eyelet undone, feels too sloppy and still cutting off circulation.

I've tried to tie them every which way. No good. Gonna try a few different things the next few weeks, but if it doesn't work......

Funny thing is this didn't seem to happen until they broke in. I guess the more they broke in the tighter I tied them.

Well if that's the case, yeah probably you have to look at something with more volume. My Vapor did the opposite thing instead, I was thinking about not having the proper skate at the beginning (foot pain on the sides, thought about a too narrow skate), then after putting Superfeet and having broken in the skates, they are become so comfortable!

I don't think that your case is similar to mine (so you probably won't solve with Superfeet), just posted that if anyone has this problem on his Vapors!
