Reebok 7k pumps vs Bauer XR4 skates

Recommended Posts

Fit wise, it'll probably be a little wider in the heel and toe. I haven't tried either of these particular models on, but I use a 7K pump (goalie) for ice and a Bauer RX25 (which is the previous version of the XR4) when I play D in roller. I found the heel to be a little looser, but the pump fixes that gap. The Bauers are snug in the toe and I don't have that issue in any Reeboks. For reference I wear a 6.5R in Bauer and a 6.5/7D in Reebok.

I have held both of them and I know the 7K is ridiculously heavy compared to any Bauer skate. Not sure why...maybe it's the all 80mm set up? The Reebok skates do look beefier, so if protection is an issue for you

General fit guidelines are rbk will be wider throughout while bauer will be a little narrower throughout.

If the Bauer fits you well, id go for the xr4s. They are stiffer, lighter and will last you longer before they start breaking down.

If the Bauer feels a little tight, id check out some missions, they will be a little wider than Bauers fit wise but still a little narrower than rbks.

These are the 2 skates I'm debating between also. I currently have the 6k's that I love and fit perfect for me, but the base is pulling away from the boot and breaking down pretty rapidly. I'd like to go with the 7k or 9k's assuming they fit similar to the 6k's but I'm really not a fan of the all 80's setup. I really liked the tri-di setup pitching me forward a bit.

Worst part is there's nowhere around here to try either skate on, so that's another problem with deciding.
