Bauer supreme one 60 vs one 80

Recommended Posts

I'm in a d league adul rec. non check.

I want to replace my Bauer vapor 3.0 pants. I want more protection and something a little moore loose around the legs. I tried on the one 60 but didn't get to try the one 80. Will the one 60 be fine for the level play I'm at or is it worth going up to the one 80?

What about for the shoulder and shin pads in these lines? Stick with one 60 or go up? I need a shin Pad that isn't too deep cause I have small legs below the knee. Shoulders are trickier cause I'm 5'8 190-195. I'm between a medium and large. Want something low profile that provides good coverage down my back to the pants.

I think you should get the best pant in the price range you can afford. The one80 is a great pant for the price. the shins are the same deal, but you might want to try some other brands to get an idea. If you want low profile shoulders, supremes are not that at all. CCM makes some really good low profile shoulders.

My best advice is to get the best piece you can at the price you can afford, and try a lot of things on in different brands you might be surprised at what fits.

i just got back into hockey after 11 years of not playing. I'm 25 now and i got all new equipment. i was going to get the Bauer supreme one60 pants but then decided to get the one80 instead. I'm 5'10 and about 185 lbs. my upper body is bigger than my lower body naturally even though i work out all body parts. i wear a waist size 33 in jeans and i ordered the one80 in a medium. I decided to go with those pants vs a diff brand like Easton or reebok cause i liked the fact that the Bauer's had the lace system in the krotch area as well as the belt to tighten the waist up for extra support. I would say the pant might run a little big cause i have to lace it up to the max along with the belt and then it feels secure(but thats just for my body size). Length wise it stops right above my knee cap on the shin guards. It is still great though with mobility and comfort along with the protection with the waist guards and on the back for the spine. i've taken some falls on it already and haven't had it be a problem. One thing that did happen was that i took a puck on the inside of my left thigh right below where the knee almost is(but on the inner part of the meat) and it stung a little but not much, there is just very little padding on that part of the pant, the puck left a nice size bruise but looks worse than actually is. After receiving the medium and skating in it, i was thinking about what a small would fit like but came to the conclusion that the medium was good enough even though i have to tighten it to the max, it still feels good but i think i'm going to get some suspenders to make it feel extra secure. But overall i don't regret buying these for my first pair of pants to get back in the sport. its a starting point and you'll only gain more knowledge of what you like and don't like as you skate and try more gear on.

As far as the shin guards go, i went with the one60. They are pretty comfortable and pretty protective of the whole leg. my legs aren't super long so i went with the 14inch and they are long enough for my legs. They aren't super fitted but definitely not really big like the nexus line. They have a lining in it that you can take out and wash which is pretty legit cause i cant remember them having that when i was a kid skating. The calf protection is pretty well suited too, they have two velcro straps that lock in your legs that are pretty durable and won't come undone when skating but i still wrap tape around my socks to just keep them more secure.

For the shoulder pads i went with the Easton Stealth RS Sr. Shoulder Pads cause they were on sale and got good reviews. At first glance they looked pretty well protected and "armored" you can say. I have a 42inch chest and i got a large in those. After putting them on they felt very nice and comfortable, they might look a little bulky in the shoulders but once you have them on they arent that bad. (but id rather have something more bulky and be better protected than not) the range of motion when taking a slap shot or passing is very good and i don't feel restricted when doing so. it covers the rib cage nicely and the front goes down to the belly button where it meets the padding of the pants which is a nice plus too cause there isnt really a gap left open for a weakness. The spine protection is more than enough cause it goes all the way down. the straps are easy to use on the rib cage and the arms as well. For it being on sale at hockey monkey for the price that it is, i find hard to beat with other pads out there(for the price match)

Hope this helps out a little with your decisions.

Okay, so I have had this conversation before. As far as the pants, 40 to 60 gets you leg zippers, and 60 to 80 gives you heavier weight material and more protection.

I'm wearing One60 as I need leg zippers (since I put my skates on before my pants). I saw no reason to move up to the one80 at my level of play.

For the shins, the Supreme line you wont have a depth issue if your legs are small. I had to replace my One60 shins because they were too shallow. If you're a 14" in shin pads, send me a PM - I have a pair to sell in pretty good shape, well taken care of.

For shoulders, I really didn't like any of the Bauer offerings. I fell in love with the CCM shape. Very low profile all the way up their line. I have a set of Bauer x:30 shoulder, as well as a set of CCM Fit09 shoulders, if you're interested in those also :) I think both are size L.

i got to try the ccm u 12 and bauer supreme one 40 and 80. i didn't think the ccm were that much lower profile than the bauer. maybe a little.

i really wanted to check out the reebok 5k and 7k shoulder pads, but they weren't in stock. guess i'll wait.

i did come home with the bauer supreme one80 pants. first time wearing them will be tonight.

report back on what you think of them, curious to know. also whats your weight and height? I'm 5'10 185lbs and got the medium in the pants and i have to tie them as tight as possible. (not that big of a deal though)
