Looking for advice on how to add abdominal pad to your shoulder pads

Recently took one in thee gut and it still hurt 4 days later. I am tall so I have a lot of exposed area. Otherwise, love my CCM U+ Fit 09 XL pads, as few models fit my large frame well.

So... I'm looking to add an abdominal piece to add to my shoulder pads for a little extra protection. Ideally, someone out there sells just the removable ab piece that some models have and I just can sew one on.

Looking for proven ideas.

Ask at your LHS if they have any extras kicking around. All the shops I've worked in always had a few that were at some point seperated form their pad, lost/found/not wanted.
