bauer skate widths

Recommended Posts

the last two pairs of bauer skates i had have been E widths. i've been looking for new skates recently and have noticed that E width bauer skates are almost non-existant. has there been a sizing change; like E is now EE? i'd go try some skates on and see, but my LHS doesn't normally stock 12.5 or 13s. so my clown feet are s.o.l.. i was looking at getting some 6000s (i don't think 8090s go higher than 12). thanks.

Bauers D was an E untill about 5 years ago, I think the only skate they stock in a 13 is the 4000, they do make 13's in the 8090, they are just a custom order.

Bauer used to stock up to 5 widths in some skates (this was about 8-10 years ago) B, C, D, E, EE. They have simply phased out some widths... too many SKUs to carry, not that big of a difference between E and EE, and heating-and-stretching has become more popular, so someone needing an E can either get away with wearing a EE, or try to stretch a D to fit their feet.

so i shouldn't have too much trouble going from a pre-2000 supreme 5000 E width skate to a current year supreme 6000 D width?

You'll probably need to get them baked, and you might need some stretching or punching too. I haven't worn Bauer skates since 1997, but based on the skates I've tried on, I don't see a difference in widths over the years...
