My hometown

Recommended Posts

Just though it would be nice if people would post pics or post the website of their hometown. Mine is Edmundston, N-B, Canada, for pics (on the website) click on Archives and Album Photo. Small town of about 20,000 and close 100,000 live in a less then 1h drive. Tomorrow, they will be unvealing the plans for a new 2 ice surface(one of 5,000 seats) arena with one theater room of 500 seats, you can bet I'll be there at the town meeting.

d3nZ, I have relitives just outside of Edmunston. Half of my family lives in ethier Florenceville and Woodstock.

Oshawa, ON. 150'000 people. 20-25 minute drive from Toronto. Home of the Oshawa Generals, who produced Bobby Orr. We are a GM town, and almost everyones dad or mom works there. We also are home of the worlds biggest hockey stick, and the largest construction project in Ontario (University of Ontario Institute of Technology, or UOIT).

Actually, there were talks of us getting a WalMart and a new arena way before you guy's. About 3 years ago, Walmart wanted to buy the old Edston Forum, tear it down and build the WalMart there. The deal fell thru because Walmart were only looking for a deal to give money for the building and not the field but because no one complained about tearing down the old Forum (wich is a replica of an old forum that was build 5 years before this one but was destroyed because of a small snow fall so this one could actually fall down anytime lol) they decided to do a report and plans for a new one. Peter Paul Jessome(owner of Jessomes Source for Sports) was talking the other day on CFAI and said that they had a meeting last week with the city of Edmundston to unveil the plans of the new arena for the local stores (just to see if the local market was supporting the idea) and apparently that thing is going to be HUGE (apparently alot bigger then what they have in Bathurst). I'll have more information tomorrow after the meeting, sure hope they give out some brochures with 3D pics and stuff, maybe I could scan them and post them on here.

My town doesnt have a site, so i'll list some stats.

>Smallest incorporated town in New York

>350 total houses

>If you decided to run around perimeter of the town, you will only be running a mile.

>You car(s) must have town stickers to get into the town or if you're visiting someone, the house must be called for the person to have permission to enter.

>Theres one little doinky park to play tennis in

Thats about it

I have been living in Boca Raton, FL for about 3 years now and it is a pretty busy city. For those who don't know "The National Enquirer" is made in Boca Raton. I live pretty close to my High School so it is nice, the women are nice looking(mostly high maintenance around here, always getting the highlights and nails done, but still very nice), no hockey in the actual city but there is an outdoor rink about 10 minutes away from my house.

I use to live in Sebring, FL which basically had a bunch of rednecks and the biggest thing there was the Supercenter Walmart and the races(racing). The only thing that brings me back there is the Chicken Wings they sell at Walmart(for some reason they taste so good.)"Tastes so good, make you wanna slap your momma"

From what I know they dont have an actual site for the city, but you really arent missing much.

Monterey, CA is located on the central coast of CA, just about 90 miles or so south of San Francisco. A few years back, the city of Carmel (which is neighboring to the south) was famous for its rediculous city ordinance that banned the eating of ice cream on public streets. Then, Clint Eastwood became mayor and removed the ban. (way to go ol' Dirty Harry! :D )

Our biggest atttraction is the Monterey bay Aquarium...which currently is running the record for longest period of time to successfully keep a great white shark in captivity.

Finally got news for out new multisport complex. There will be one ice, 3500 or 4000 seats, an indoor stadium with a running track, inside soccer field, about 8 tennis courts, inside semi-olympic swimming pool, outdoor soccer field/football field, outdoor track, a 900 seat theater, a 300 seat theater, fitness room, multiple rooms for various sports as ballet, judo, karate, dance classes, painting classes, olympic wrestling. I think that's about it. It looks amazing, 31 million dollars, could be finished within 5 years.
