Is this just a play on words Bauer is using on their skates or is their really a difference between the two?

No - one is carbon fiber-based and the other one is fiberglass-based.

its playing on lack of general knowledge of what composites are. fiber glass and carbon fiber by themselves are not composites. a carbon fiber or fiberglass composite is created when you embed the fiber into a matrix(resin). concrete is a composite... so when bauer says

its analogous to saying a composite made of 100% fiber and an outsole that is 100% composite or better explained as "A marketing exec not an engineer wrote this."
