Skate help

Recommended Posts

Hey, next year I am going to be buying new skates and I am in need of some help with your guys' knowledge. I currently use Bauer Vapor 6 Skates with Light speeds on them and for the next my next pair of skates I want some specific attributes.

I play forward, and am 140 lbs. When skating, I bend my knees and have them around 2 inches infront of my toes and I skate with a long stride. For my next pair of skates, money isn't really an issue, and I would like to be able to bend my knees forward, 2 inches in front of my toes very easily without having to keep my top two laces too loose, like I had to do with my Vapor 6s. My main concern within getting a new skate is having it flexible for all the purposes of keeping a long steady stride. I am not that fussy about the weight, just as long as they aren't too much heavier then my Vapor 6s. Right now, the skate I am thinking about are Graf G5s, or Graf Cyber Flexes. I have picked up both of these skates and found that the G5 is a good weight but the Cyber Flexes are somewhat heavy. Here is an extra question too, has anyone ever found that the Cyber Flexes were too heavy and they had to go to a lighter skate?

I appreciate any replies to these questions and thank you very much for reading my post.

Mission pureflys offer great forward flex, from what I understand. They're cheap too at hockey giant, but you might get hit with some weird border charges.

If you're looking for a skate blade that suits the way you skate, may want to try the new Mission Pitch blade, you'll be able to find the exact number you need, and on whichever new skates you decide on, you'll be able to get a custom rocker.

Do the Mission S500s also offer good forward flex?

It's one thing to find a skate that fits your skating style, but I'd go with what fits your foot over what fits your style.

The 727s have a ton of forward flex but are pretty much sneakers. I like the soft boot but not happy with the fit of this particular pair.
