Easton 1500c vs. EQ50 skate fit

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have experience with both of these skates, and are able to compare the fit? I'm coming out of the 1500c and am leaning towards picking up the EQ50s on clearance. Do they fit the same, totally different?

I had the 1500's years back in 8D, still one of my favorite skates. I'm currently using a EQ5 in 8E. The EQ50 is supposed to have a similar fit to the EQ5 to my understanding.

I've also had the S15, SE16 and S17. For some reason the S17's had too much volume for me. Not sure if the RS is similar, but those are on sale for cheap also. If I could, I would go back to the 1500's if they were more protective. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice. So you found the 1500 and EQ5 to be fairly similar? From what I've read, the EQ50 is slightly wider in the heel vs. the EQ5.

While I'm not against the RS, on sale for $599 is alot different than EQ50s on clearance for $200.

Similar, though I've gotten the impression that the EQ50s are slightly deeper overall with a slightly wider upper quarter. The biggest area where I think you will notice a difference is in the forefoot. The 1500s have a little more...rounded sidewalls and are naturally wider and shallower. Focus on seeing which of the D or EE fits better in the EQ50. The EQ50 also has a higher cut boot.

Now that i think about it. I'm in Stralman's old EQ5's. I'm not sure if his skates have more or less volume than a retail pair. The skates are also a E, which is not available at retail level.

Of all the Eason pairs I've had, the 1500's were my favorite followed by the EQ5
