Branding Question

Recommended Posts

Hey all

I have a question, mainly pertaining to Bauer products, but in general as well. When Bauer brands their products, i.e. Apex, 7.0, 6.0, etc. are they creating one new product, placing that at the top (apex ,X:60, XXXX, XXX, XX) and making last years product the next one down (7.0, X:50, XXV, XIX, XV, respectively, etc.) on the branding chain? Meaning that this years 7.0 is a cosmetically updated X:60, the X:50 is a cosmetically updated XXX, and so forth?

I feel like they do this with the sticks because I went on a spree buying Vapor XV's from the store because they were repainted XXX lites and buying the one75's because they had the exact weight, kick point, and feel as the one90. At least it felt like it and was the closest thing I could find to the twig I loved. I didn't see anything in the search feature, but I've had people at pro shops tell me this. Sometimes their right like the whole XXX lite and one75 situation and other times guys have tried to tell me that there is NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL between a pro radius cut and a flat bottom V...

Thanks ahead of time,

ek

It sounds like you get a lot of bad advice from your local shops. To the best of my knowledge, none of that is true.

No. The lower level ones are just downspecced versions of the top end. What you're saying might be indirectly true insofar as the new model is based on the old model, but it's completely incorrect to say that the current X7.0 is just a rebadged X60.
