Hey guys,

I bought NGX skates about a month ago and am having some difficulty breaking them in. Ive probably skated on them around 10 times so I understand I should wait longer but I want to do something about the blisters. If you look at the pic I am getting them directly on that bone (disregard heel blisters from previous skates) and they are pretty annoying. Is there anything the store I bought them from could do to soften that area on the skates? Any recommendations?

ps. I already had them heated when I bought them

Is there a boney protrusion on your foot in that spot, or does it seem to get a bit wider there? If so, get your LHS to heat up the skates and do a punch in that location. I have the same issue in Supremes and Vapors until I punch that location. It's usually right by the Bauer logo.

If the blister is caused by slipping you might be in the wrong size/volume skate, or perhaps the tongue is causing some additional pressure in that location or rubbing. It's hard to tell without seeing the skates on your feet in person.

There is a bulge from my skates in that spot on both sides so it goes into my foot and creates the blisters. Its also right on my foot bone too so that bulges out as well. The sizing is definetly correct!

In that case get them punched out a bit at that spot. I know of the spot you're referring to. It definitely gets a bit "harder" in that spot and closer to your foot. If you have a bone that pops out there a bit it's going to result in the problem you're having.

In the time being, get some second skin or moleskin for that spot to prevent the tearing of the skin.

Have same issue in APX skate too, but it rubs under that bone, just bit below. Right skate only though. Needs to be punched out. I just stick a gel pad under the sock and it's an easy fix.

I also did try to push it out myself a little while using a fan to heat it up.

I use a golf ball and a roll of hockey tape to punch out my boots. I punched my total ones this way with complete success. Just put everything in a vise and clamp it down. The tape on the outside of the boot and the golfball on the inside. Instant punch success. Successfully performed this on my Nexus 1000's too.
