Online Poker

Recommended Posts

Where do you guys play? I've been looking around, playing the free games, trying to see what servers I like, and so far, I haven't liked any of them. I've tried True Poker, Party Poker, and Pacific Poker, and I haven't really liked them. I downloaded Poker Stars because I heard it was really, but I couldn't into any tables to try it out. Any suggestions?

sorry to jack the thread, but anything I can download, or a site I can go on to learn. I played once or twice, but have no idea about the rules.

I'd say just download any one of them and start playing with the free money. I think you can learn pretty quickly by just playing, thats how I taught myself.

I like to play, but I hate playing online. Half the yahoos in any given free room will call anything just b/c they have play chips and not real money. It's a little irritating to put all your money in with pocket aces and have some idiot call you with deuce-freaking-6 or something like that and suck out on you on the river, again, and again, and again... It's a great diversion though when you can't get a home game going.

Trust me, you want to play with people like that. Just know when your aces are no longer good.

I've been playing for about a year on PartyPoker. It really has the best game selection. I've been playing on FullTilt this past month and earning the deposit bonus. The software is nice, but the game selection kind of sucks.

UltimateBet is ok. I like the kill games they have, but it's a rock garden and the game selection isn't very good.

Party has the best game selection, which is most important to me. And if you use something like Neteller, then you should be able to move money from one site to another without much of a problem.

I haven't used Pacific, but I've used most other sites. The game selection is a huge difference, IMO.

I'm playing on Pacific right now, but would recommend playing at Party. Pacific is alright, but they only let you play one game at a time, and I seem to get disconnected quite a bit (not fun when you're in the middle of a hand)

I've tried pokerroom.com before I wasn't very impressed with it in the least. On a side note, anyone else play Omaha Hi-Lo? I've started playing that recently and I'm beginning to prefer it over Hold 'em.

O/8 is a great game. I've just started playing pot limit and am still not very good at it, but it's fun to play at a lower limit table.

Stud H/L is fun as well. Definitely different games though. It's taken me a little over a year to get pretty good at HE, so I'm guessing it'll take me even longer to get good at either of those games.

I was playing O/8 earlier tonight and turned $2,000 into $22,000 in about an hour. I have to say that if you know how to play it well, O/8 is probably the easiest game to consistantly make money at. If you have even just half an ounce of patience you can take a newbies' money hand over fist.

While that is true, since a lot of people don't really know how to play properly. It's totally different when it's real money. People who really know how to play can take all of your money from you. Same with Stud H/L and Razz.

Anybody else tried EmpirePoker? I just signed up today and cleared the $100 bonus in about 3 hours. If anyone wants to give it a try (with real money), let me know and I can refer you (it gives me $75 and you $25) and give you the bonus code.

It's the same software as Party, but it has a lot of tables to choose from. And from what I could tell in the 3 hours of play, the games are really fishy. Like I'm talking about being raised on a double paired board with ace high fishy.

I've been playing online for a while on and off for real money. I think the sites with more people tend to be better (I.E. Party poker, and pacific)... A lot of the smaller sites draw you in with weird bonus offers but you can never find a good table to play at. I'd stick with the bigger ones. Empire isnt too bad either. We should have a MSH card game, haha.

Speaking of poker, anyone have any tips for my first time at a casino? I found one just over the Washington border thats 18 and over, and am heading up there this weekend. I've only played cash games and a few low key tournaments.

Here's a few tips:

  • Live 3/6 usually plays like Party .50/1
  • The standard buy-in is 25BB, which is $150. Some NL games have a $100 buy-in, so play whichever game you like.
  • Tip the dealer $1 per pot and the waitress $1 per drink (or more if you want her to come back quickly)
  • Don't wear sunglasses, you'll look like a tool
