Titanium Steel (No Icing/Anywhere else?)

Recommended Posts

I only found out about this by chance, when I saw Mojo122's post in the Mako skates thread... The reference to the titanium blades piqued my interest, and after some Google work I found this on No Icing's site: http://noicingsports.com/titanium_alloy_skate_runners_for_all_brands.html

Oddly, there doesn't seem to be a clear path to this page form their home page. Maybe they don't want it to be easy to find?

Anyway, I skate on Kor skates - I have a pair of Shift 2's and a pair (with hopefully another to be acquired soon) of Shift 1's. Starting to think about what I'm going to do when the steel runs out, since nobody has replacement steel for Pitch 3's anymore. Except... these! And the high cost of entry might be outweighe by the benefit of not having to worry about finding steel again for the life of all these boots. I'm figuring one set of these, and use the stock Pitch 3 steel as backup for while the Ti alloy runners are in the mail to No Icing.

Anyone have anything to contribute on the matter? Thoughts, suggestions, derision? All welcome.

hmmm. guess i'd better just stock up on pitch 3's whenever possible.

Thanks.

Yes, that was a awesome quality steel. I know people who scour ebay looking for donor skates, buy them just for the steel.

To the OP. When these first became available I really didn't have any interest in them. Then No-Icing just happened to have an extra pair that someone had orderd that was my runner size, so I decided to give them a try. They certainly didn't disappoint and lived up to what they offered me in terms of performance. So much so, that when I bought my TotalOne NXG skates, I bought a second set so that my backups had the same steel/setup. I was lucky enough that No-Icing was able to get them for me. My set just might have been the last set of Titanium runners they were able to get. Needless to say, I'm so happy I bought the second set and am set for life for steel as pointed out by Jimmy in another topic. Of course, who knows what might become available in the future that is even better (and I will want).
