Problem with my Eagle X70i Gloves

Recommended Posts

The pointer finger on both of my gloves just isn't right. When my hands are in the gloves, all of my fingers tips are resting flat against the "palms" on each of the fingers but on my pointer fingers the palms where the finger tips are, are at an angle and the palm/tip of my pointer finger rests on the seam of where the palm is attached to the rest of the glove. This has been leaving my pointer fingers pretty irritated after games and I believe the reason this is happening is because one side of the pointer finger on the glove is reinforced with that black vinyl liner while the other side is just loose and not reinforced at all, so naturally my finger sinks to the opposite side and the palm is at an angle because the reinforced side is being held up.

This is the best I can describe the problem, i'll take a picture right now so you guys can see what i'm talking about how my pointer fingers are constantly on the seams of the finger of the glove where the palm is attached.

Here are pictures with my hands inside both gloves, pay close attention to the pointer fingers and the angles of them, you'll see that my finger naturally rests almost directly on top of the inner seam of the palm on the finger of the glove.

That's why I like the fingers in the TPS R2 and HGT gloves. If you have the gusset shortened on the one side of the index finger it will "fix" the problem.

Thanks for the advice, but wouldn't shortening the black gusset compromise the rigidity of the index finger though?

I know this is a common problem with Eagle gloves because every pair of Eagle gloves that my LHS has in stock has the same problem. Is shortening the gusset the only option I have? What have other people with the same problem done with their Eagle gloves? I wonder what Marcelo has to say about this.

You shorten the gusset on the side where your finger is on the seam. that will twist the finger slightly and you will have your finger exactly where it should be.

Thanks a lot, that's great advice, I misunderstood what you said originally, I thought by gusset you meant the black reinforcing piece on the outside of the seam where the index finger is, lol.

I could probably have it shortened at a local shoe repair shop, if not I guess i'll have to send it to http://www.fixitbymail.com. Do you recommend that the gusset be shortened where it attaches to the palms or where attaches to the black leather finger itself? Do you have any other advice for me before I bring my gloves to a shoe repair shop?

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it.

I would change it at the bottom seam, it is probably the easiest to access. I would also mark how much you want it shortened and pin it so they get it right the first time.
