Junior equipment questions - need advise what to buy?

Recommended Posts

Try to choose new and better equipment for young player.

Helmet. Currently use Bauer 7500 (bought used) happy with it. Want to upgrade due to expire date. Will be Misison Intake a good one? Good ventilation is a vial feature.

Shin Guards. Use Joffa SG 1000 10". Happy but Need size 12".

Which ones can you recommend? Look at the following: Eason 65S, Reebok 5K

Skates. Use Bauer Suprime One.6. A little bit concerned about vapors as know they are more narrow. More concerned about Easton, esp right size. Narrow foot.

Choose between Easton EQ50/40/30/55S/S12 and bauer X50/40/30 X4

Gloves. Currently EQ10. Worn. Look at Warrior Bully, Mission Boss/Commander, Mission Axiom T8, Reebok 5000, Easton EQ30/S65

Shoulder Pads. Last upgrade here. Use larger size of Easton EQ10. Dont look at better protection (this worked great). Look at light pads and ...big head should fit well )

Thank you for reading and advice!

Any questions - welcome to ask.

Pretty much all helmets in the same price ranges have the same amount of protection. One that fits best should be the one you choose.

Only thing I can add to your topic, good luck with everything else.

My boy (12) has three pairs of gloves, Eagle X5, Bauer Four Rolls, and Warrior Bully. He likes the Bauers best, but the Warriors and Eagles are also holding up great. The Bullys are a good price point glove. He buys the gloves himself and is an equipment lover like all of us.

The Mission Intake is an older model, if you're looking for the expiration date, they may already be expired? That said, I have one myself for coaching, and I like it.

He wears Easton EQ50 but he is big and strong (105 lbs., 5'). You did not state your son's age and size, but sometimes an overly stiff skate might not be the best thing based on size and skill, etc....

Good luck. Spend the most on the helmet and then the skates, all the rest would be fine with middle of the line product.

I have two Bauer 7500s currently for sale in the thread if you're interested in that helmet again.

In my experience, Easton equipment has not held up for a long period of time. For shins, I would look and see if you can find warrior koncept shin guards. They're built like tanks. I've also heard that bauer and reebok shins are great as well.

Gloves- out of the ones you listed, I personally would go with the Warrior bully. Great gloves at a good price.

Shoulders- Bauer supreme one40s work amazing or Sherwood 5030.

Hope this helped! Good luck!
