What Stick Length Do You Use?

Recommended Posts

I haven't been able to find a topic on what stick length people prefer to use. Everybody seems to have their stick cut to a little bit different length, and certain stick lengths usually help people in different aspects of the game.

I use my collarbone as a measure of wear to cut my stick. I stand with my skates on and cut the stick either right at, or directly above my collarbone. I feel like it helps me stickhandle, pass, and receive passes well, but I feel as though my shot may have suffered going from a longer stick to the length I am at now.

Where do you cut your sticks? Does your stick length help you in certain aspects of your game? Do you prescribe to the "universal" measurements that some people tend to use, ie the stick should be at your chin when on skates no matter what?

I'm really interested to see what people use.

I play wing and center and I cut mine to my Adam's apple on skates. Maybe shorter like the collar bone if the lie is higher. Im not a dangler but very proficient at stickhandleing, passing, and all types of shooting. I prefer my stick to not only fit my height but also not to excel in one part of the game, but rather all aspects.

So snipers and d men usually have drastic stick lengths.

You will know the right stick length when u can give and receive a pass, shoot and stickhandle with out thinking about it. with the right length the puck stays on your blade constantly. So you feel it at all times. This allows you to play heads up.

im 6"1 and i cut it to exactly 62 inches + 0.5 inches of wood extension. so..on skates it goes to about my collarbone. sickest length for good stickhandling.
