Tailoring Warm-up Pants?

Recommended Posts

went into the shop today to pick up a new set of warm up pants and quickly realized they are all really long. my last set of warm-ups that are more than a decade old were shortened from the factory(old team pants from yesteryear).

so being vertically challenged at 5'8", none of the warm-ups fit me for length off the rack...even if i were to go with a small size (unfortunately, being a bit of a chubster, i'm gonna need medium). of course, none of the shop guys knew if pants can be custom tailored to be shortened. through a bit of research, i found the bauer lightweights have a 2.5" section at the bottom to allow for shortening, but i'm guessing i'm gonna need to shorten at least 4" if not more.

that said, does anyone know if a tailor can shorten zippered-bottom warm-ups? figured i'd ask here as opposed to buying them, taking them to a tailor and finding out it's not possible then returning them. thanks for any help.

I recently had a pair of zippered Adidas track pants shortened. The price was minimal, but would have been at least twice as much (according to the tailor) if I wanted the elasticized portion at the bottom also moved to the bottom of the zipper on the shortened pants.

What kevin said. I used to work at a dry cleaners a tailor can pretty much do what ever you want, but certain things will cost more i.e. moving the zipper, moving the elastic. Just call around to a few people in your area.

awesome, that's pretty much the info i was looking for. thankfully, most hockey warm-ups don't have elasticized bottoms so at least that's one expense i don't have to worry about. thanks fellas.
