Generic retail edition sticks?

Recommended Posts

Most of you have probably already seen someone using one of those generic 'retail-version' sticks like the Easton Mako Extreme, Sher-Wood T7000, Reebok XT Pro, CCM RBZ Custom 01, or the Warrior DT5c. I work at Canadian Tire in the sports department, and I see truckloads of these sticks every day. Some of them actually feel not that bad. My question is: how does the construction of these sticks compare to their more mainstream cousins in each price point?

It would be awesome if a product rep could chime in on this. Maybe Miseaujeu could tell us about the DT5c and the DT4c?

...and your employer isn't telling you?

Strange.

Are you implying they know anything about hockey sticks - or for that matter, any hockey gear? It's a Canadian Tire, not a Hockey Experts. Don't get me wrong though: there are several employees who are knowledgeable about hockey. It's just that it's not a specialized hockey store.

JR I assume you are not familiar with the Canadian retail landscape, but buying gear at Canadian Tire is kind of like buying at Walmart. Staff there would not do much more than get the box off a high shelf for you. The kids working in sporting goods have zero hockey gear training.

MrData, I suggest you look up your company staff directory or something like it and pose this question to your sporting goods/hockey gear buyer or someone with a similar role.

Might be an interesting exercise. Thanks for the suggestion. I just thought I'd ask here first.

Good question to ask on here. Every major retailer/buying group has lines of SMU products from manufacturers. These products can be anything from being the exact same thing as a catalogue item (but in different colors for example) or something that is based upon one with features from higher up. The SC87 line for Sportchek/Hockey Ex is an example.
