Toe Pro used to prevent stick damage

Recommended Posts

So I'm trying to fix my stick that is cracking badly at the toe. So I try and fix the stick using Toe Pro, looks like it might work. Now this stick will be a back up.

So I have a new stick (same brand and make as the old) and I'm wondering if i should put the Toe Pro on the new stick as a preventative measure?

I've used waterproof two ton epoxy to fix a cracked stick toe, it works great if you're proactive and get the crack right away. I've also filled really damaged toe and it held up for a while, good enough for a back up stick.

The best way to proactively protect the toe of the stick before it cracks is to tape it and make sure you have clean tape on it every time you skate.

Changing the tape after every skate gives you a chance to inspect the blade and catch a hairline fracture before it turns into a crack. I've used to use Pro Toe on wood blades to black them out since it holds up a little better than spray paint, but to repair a composite blade you should hit it with some epoxy. Be sure to give it a couple of days to dry properly before using it again, though. Even the quick-set epoxy takes a day or two.
