ReBal Radius

Recommended Posts

Anybody here familiar with the ReBal Radius proprietary to a lhs in Oshawa Ontario? If so, what are your thoughts? It is endorsed by a handful of NHL players. I am currently trying it out and am undecided how I feel about it. Initially has helped some aspects of my skating while hindering others. I need to give it a few more skates to see if I adapt.

I have not had any positive from anyone that has tried it.

The worst effected were the goalies.

While the idea is very much similar to body balance done by some shops it takes it to an extreme.

Everyone likes something different.

Personally I would recommend a shop that uses a more scientific profiling method such as the Blackstone, Blademaster, or a good Max Edge shop. Mike at the Oshawa OUIT rink is probably the most experienced in that end of town when it comes to profiling. And yes I know there is a more well known but I know Mike's work is better and much more consistent.

My 2 cents.

Thanks for the input. I'm due for new skates anyway, so think I'm going to go back to a standard 9' or 10' radius. I won't say the ReBal is bad as it definitely had a positive effect on my agility, but then again I'm an advanced skater that was already pretty agile. I did lose some straight away speed and my backwards skating was "Off".

I have a couple of buddies that love it, which is what lead me to give it a try. In the end, it just wasn't for me.

Interesting. Also, based on the markings on the runner, it appears that the balance point is shifted a fair bit forward.
