Use heat gun to spot heat the inner toe cap?

Recommended Posts

I have a hot spot on the inside of my left toe cap, which has caused a bump under, and to the insider of the ball of my foot (see pic; that white stuff is just Traumeel). I am not able to bake my skates, but I do own a heat gun, and am considering spot heating the plastic toe cap, and trying to flatten it out a bit, thus giving me more room for the ball of my foot to sit comfortably in there. I have plenty of room above my toes to perform this flattering (Bauer Supreme One.9 skates).

Does anyone have any advice, on how long to use the heat gun, tips and tricks, etc., on how to flatten the toe cap?

the toe cap will get pliable but im not sure you can get it to mold too much with a heatgun, and you risk damaging the other parts of the boot.

depending on where it is can the toe be tapped out? this usually is a longer process but concentrates on the toecap and shapes it slowly.

It's the inner left toe cap, in the middle of the plastic piece, closet to the first eyelet than to the end of the boot.

What do I use, and how would I 'tap it out'?

I havnt done it myself though going through the forums here plenty of people have done it. If you don't want to do it yourself hockey shops can do it (i know you're abroad so I don't know about your locals) or a cobbler (shoe repair expert if I spelled that right) can usually do it as well.

Not a bad idea about the shoe repair guy- I will take my skates there next time I visit.
