adult in junior skates

Recommended Posts

so i am in the market for some new skates. as it stands right now i am currently in bauer vapor x:60 le in a size 6.0 wide. with that said i went to my local shop and started trying on some skates. the skate that fit and felt the best was a reebok 20k in a 5.5ee. so my question is will this hold up to an adult skater? some back round is i am a referee that works college, junior and high school games. so i am on my skates a good deal.

any help or feedback on this would be great.

Thanks

If they fit best I don't see why not. I'm guessing since you didn't note it you're not an exorbitant weight. Do note Reebok skates break down faster than other brands.

No, you can't say that. They're high end skates may not be as stiff, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they will break down faster.

Ive had many brands of skates over the past couple of years all in the high to mid-high range. Yes the reeboks don't start out as super stiff as say, bauers, but they just don't last. The tours I've had and old ccms both don't start out as stiff as my bauers or missions but they lasted a good time. Reeboks were cooked in very short time.

I have very wide feet, well abnormal feet. EEE ball and an A heel. I wear a Jr. skate. Make sure they feet well width wise, as the skate gets shorter they get narrower. I went custom Bauer. If your spending close to full retail for 20Ks, a pair of custom built skates is not all that much more of an investment. It's well worth the extra cash.

That's not fair, you can't take your own experience and make a broad sweeping statement like that. It's not fact.

How much do you weigh? That will kind of be the deciding factor. If you aren't too heavy, JR skates will hold up fine. If they break down after a couple of years you can get a new pair and it is ok, because JR skates are much cheaper
